George Gershwin's music will fill University Hall tomorrow
night beginning at 8:15 in a concert featuring
the National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of
Howard Mitchell, and guest pianist Marjorie Mitchell.

The concert, which is being held for the benefit of
Camp Faith, is being sponsored by the University Union,
the University League, and the Charlottesville Chapter of
the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Included in the program, which is being played for
the first time, are the Cuban Overture, the Concerto in
F music from "An American in Paris," and the Rhapsody
in Blue.

Miss Mitchell, a native of
Charlottesville, spent most of this
year on tour through Germany,
Austria, Italy, Greece, Turkey,
Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia.

She has received very favorable
reviews in the many times
she has played Gershwin.

Howard Mitchell has been director
of the National Symphony
Orchestran since 1949. Under him,
the symphony developed a policy
of "music for everyone," which
has resulted in its becoming one
of the most widely supported
orchestras in the country for concert
pairs.

Top Award

Mr. Mitchell has received the
top award of the congressionally-chartered
National Music Council
five times for his "distinguished
services to American
Music."

Camp Faith is described by
John C. Lowe, the president of
its board of directors, as "an
interdenominational, intercultural
summer day camp for children
who would not otherwise have
summer recreational facilities or
activities available."

Camp Faith Grows

The forerunner to Camp Faith
was started four years ago by
several Episcopalian churches
and the Episcopal Diocese of
Virginia, at which time its summer
enrolment totalled 35 children.

Since then it has grown into an
activity in which 1000 children
participate, with over 400 teenage
counselors and more than 200
adult volunteers.

Tickets for the concert are on
sale at Newcomb Hall, Alumni
Hall, the Corner, and Barracks
Road shopping center. Cost of the
tickets is $4 and $5, and $3 for
students, their dates and wives.
Tickets will be sold at the door.

Sponsor tickets are selling for
$50 and patron tickets for $25.
