Crater To Deliver
Campaign Platform

Flora Crater, independent
candidate for lieutenant
governor of Virginia, will speak
at an open house co-sponsored
by the Virginia Women's
Political Caucus and the
Charlottesville Women's
Liberation at Westminister
Presbyterian Church on Rugby
Road today from 4-6 p.m.

Prior to the open house, Mrs.
Crater will attend a coffee in
the St. Thomas Church from
10:30 a.m. until noon today,
followed by a luncheon from
12:30 to 2 p.m. in the private
dining room of the Pantops Mt.
restaurant.

A reception will follow the
open house at 8 p.m. in the
Law School Lounge.

In her platform draft, Mrs.
Crater states that she wants to
get "all groups involved in the
political process for their own
good."

"A natural constituency
includes all and benefits all,"
Mrs. Crater said. "We need the
balance of a woman elected to
a state-wide office."

Opposes Discrimination

"The election of a woman
to a state-wide office would
provide a voice in Richmond
for the housewife, the shopper,
parents concerned about
quality education and
homeowners concerned about
environment at the community
level," she added.

Representing a
"constituency that is not being
heard," Mrs. Crater opposes
"all forms of discrimination in
education, employment,
housing, taxation, credit, legal
protection and community
services."

Mrs. Crater believes that
women, blacks, the poor, the
elderly, the young and
minority groups are suffering
from discrimination in many of
these areas.

Founder

Mrs. Crater founded the
Virginia Women's Political
Caucus, the Northern Virginia
chapter of the National
Organization of Women and
the Women's Lobby. She is
also chairman of the National
Women's Political Caucus
Committee for Equal Rights
Amendment Ratification.
