—The act passed in the 4th year of his Majesty's
reign [George III.], entitled “An Act
for granting certain duties in the British
Colonies and Plantations in America, &c.”;
one other act passed in the 5th year of his
reign, entitled, “An Act for granting and applying
certain stamp duties and other duties
in the British Colonies and Plantations in
America, &c.”; one other act passed in the
6th year of his reign, entitled, “An Act for
the better securing the dependency of his
Majesty's dominions in America upon the
Crown and Parliament of Great Britain”;
and one other act, passed in the 7th year of
his reign, entitled, “An Act for granting
duties on paper, tea, &c.”, form that connected
chain of parliamentary usurpation, which has
been the subject of frequent applications to
his Majesty, and the Houses of Lords and
Commons of Great Britain * * *.—
