2525. EMBARGO, Approval of.—[further continued] .
While the opposition to
the late laws of Embargo has in one quarter
amounted almost to rebellion and treason, it
is pleasing to know that all the rest of the
nation has approved of the proceedings of the
constituted authorities. The steady union
* * * of our fellow citizens of South
Carolina, is entirely in their character. They
have never failed in fidelity to their country
and the republican spirit of the Constitution.
Never before was that union more needed or
more salutary than under our present crisis.—
