2191. DEPORTATION ACT, George III. and.—

He [George III.] has endeavored to pervert the exercise of the kingly office in
Virginia into a detestable and insupportable
tyranny * * * by combining with others
to subject us to a foreign jurisdiction, giving
his assent to their pretended acts of legislation
* * * for transporting us beyond
the seas to be tried for pretended offences.—
Proposed Va. Constitution. Ford ed., ii, 11.
